As a marketing leader, you are also a CCO

Updated: Mar 18, 2022

I’ll admit the title of “CCO a.k.a. Chief Connection Officer” was not derived from between my ears. I heard this coined at a recent webinar I attended, and it resonated so strongly for me.

Here is what I believe is needed to be a dynamic marketing leader and CCO:

  1. To do a great job in leading your marketing, you need to understand what’s going on in the organization.

  2. Book time/carve out time/make time, on a regular basis, to have conversations with the leads of other areas, even if that lead person is your only employee.

  3. Find out what challenges they are facing and what is working well in relation to how they are connecting with the customers. Ask them what challenges the customers are facing and what they are really enjoying.

  4. Take that information back to your marketing team. Feel free to include your leads in this conversation. Brainstorm ideas and ways to help, that align to the business goals.

  5. Get buy-in from the leads and ask them if they’d be willing give it a try.

  6. Repeat steps 1 through 5.

When you take this collaborative approach, you will find that your marketing initiatives get a stronger buy-in and faster lift to reach your business goals.

Keep on being amazing,

Lyanne
